In the Gospel of Luke. We read that God sends the Angel Gabriel to proclaim to the Virgin Mary her being chosen among all women.  God say's Mary is a very special person.  Upon coming to her; the Angel greets Mary, saying “Rejoice, O highly favored daughter!  The Lord is with you.  Blessed are you among women.....Do not fear, Mary.  You have found favor with God.  She was chosen to bear the Son of God.
 
God freely gives of Himself to those who favor Him. To be favored by God means you are loved by Him. ... To say that you are blessed and highly favored shows that you recognize the special relationship that you have with the Lord.
