Mary is the mother of our God.  She was selected above all women. 
 
And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth. To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou art highly favored, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women. (Luke 1:26-28)
 
This was the good news that the angel Gabriel brought to Mary. He let her know that she was blessed and highly favored. She was favored because, of all the women who would ever live, God chose her. ... The Bible tells us that we are a chosen race, and we are blessed just as Mary was blessed,
 
God freely gives of Himself to those who favor Him. To be favored by God means you are loved by Him. ... To say that you are blessed and highly favored shows that you recognize the special relationship that you have with the Lord.
 
Psalms 5:12, the word says, "For you, O Lord will bless the righteous, with "favor". ...
